About Government Degree College Budaun
Government Degree College Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, was established in 2004 by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh as one of the pioneer institutes of higher education with a vision to provide low cost, high quality education in Arts, Science, and Commerce at the doorsteps of students primarily residing in rural areas covering all categories, especially weaker sections of society. This urban area of Uttar Pradesh was devoid of such higher education facilities, and at present, GDC Budaun is the only comprehensive college offering Arts, Science, and Commerce programs in Budaun city with the aim of providing higher education at minimal economic cost through optimal utilization of available resources.
The college operates on a co-education system and the motto of this institution has been, besides education, to inculcate moral values among students and help them live up to the expectations of good citizenship. Affiliated to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, Government Degree College Budaun offers BA (Bachelor of Arts), BCom (Bachelor of Commerce) at the undergraduate level, and MA (Master of Arts), MCom (Master of Commerce) at the postgraduate level. The affectionate relation between students and teachers combined with a tradition of high quality education attracts students for higher education in a friendly environment.
Presently, the college has three faculties of Arts, Science, and Commerce with a student strength of 1,550 students and 25 teaching staff along with administrative, technical, and supporting staff. The Faculty of Science offers undergraduate programs in Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. The Faculty of Arts provides undergraduate programs in Political Science, Economics, English, Sociology, Hindi, Urdu, History, and Physical Education, along with postgraduate programs in English, Sociology, Political Science, Urdu, and History. The Faculty of Commerce offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Most of the teachers are actively engaged in research activities, contributing to the academic and intellectual environment of the institution.
Besides academics, the college has three units of National Service Scheme (NSS) for boys and girls, one unit each of Rovers and Rangers, promoting social service, discipline, and personality development. The college provides a comprehensive library with over 3,500 books covering various subjects, well-equipped science laboratories, computer facilities, and sports infrastructure.
